Grant Summary:

This initiative will expand the first interprofessional educational program focused on rural health for advanced practice nursing, medical and pharmacy students beyond the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) Rockford campus. Through the National Center for Rural Health Professions, UIC students in Rockford participate in a series of courses that span four years and include didactic, simulation, clinical practice, and community based research in rural health. This project will build the infrastructure to extend the Rural Nursing program to the other UIC College of Nursing campuses for advanced practice nursing students located in rural areas providing the opportunity to participate in an interprofessional educational curriculum focused on delivering quality care to underserved rural residents and their communities in Illinois and eastern Iowa.
