Young Emerging Scientists (Y.E.S.) is a science technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) orientation program targeted to serve girls (4th – 12th) in underrepresented populations in the Des Moines Metro through participation in multiple interactive, hands-on workshops. The Y.E.S. program participants will increase their exposure to the world of STEM subjects through best practice curriculum developed by engineers, federal bureaus, health professionals, and national science initiatives. The goal is to cultivate an interest in science related careers (i.e. health care) with the intent to close the workforce gap in the STEM related fields.
