Telligen Community Initiative
Our Mission
To initiate and support innovative and forward-looking health-related projects aimed at improving health, social well-being, and educational attainment.
Guiding Principles
We believe that every person deserves access to health education and services, especially the most vulnerable members of our communities. Health promotion provides opportunities for the development of community and individual capacity. Many factors shape health and health outcomes (social determinants of health), putting a premium on the prevention and integration of health with other community stakeholders and sectors. At Telligen Community Initiative, we want to collaborate actively and intentionally with others that share common ground, views, and beliefs. Together, we can make healthier communities; we can make the standard of living better.
In 2023, we are again committing all available resources to advance the profound needs in social determinants of health and healthcare workforce development. In both areas, the needs are profound and creativity and innovation is needed to bring together both natural and unexpected collaborators to make a difference. What is different is that each funding priority has its own distinct RFP and funding opportunity that all four TCI states can apply for funding consideration. The social determinant option is built around strengthening children, parenting, family, and community interaction. The healthcare workforce options are intended to convey our broader commitment to advancing much-needed resources and solutioning. We want to bolster our health workforce and advance health career pursuits as a means of addressing a sector in need of staffing, as well as a way to advance meaningful career ladders with highly livable wages and earning potential. These options are intended to span health sector roles and disciplines, as well as work across the lifespan.
Our Approach
– Grant-making programs, both community responsive and intentional/initiated support.
– Innovative healthcare workforce development programming and support.
– Support efforts to raise the capacity of organizations doing work within our strategic priority areas.
– Extend the influence of our resources by leveraging and aligning with others when possible to further our mission to benefit the underserved and vulnerable.
Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
The Telligen Community Initiative is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion as core values.
Diversity: We appreciate and leverage our differences, and we involve and reflect the communities we serve.
Equity: We align our policies, practices, and resources so that people of all races, cultures and socioeconomic statuses have genuine opportunities to thrive.
Inclusion: We create an environment in which everyone feels valued and respected.
We see many ways to realize this vision as a funder, convenor, thought leader, and as an employer, economic entity, and institutional investor.
