Chicago Botanic Garden
Farm on Ogden is a visionary, community-driven urban farm that is moving the needle on alleviating hunger and health disparities in food desert communities in Chicago. The Farm integrates a multi-layer approach to address social determinants of health through agriculture-focused job training, indoor year-round urban farm programming, and collaboration with community healthcare providers. The grant from the Telligen Community Initiative will be used as a match to leverage the United States Department of Agriculture Food Insecurity Nutrition Incentives grant for the VeggieRx prescription produce initiative. VeggieRx is a collaborative project of the Farm and three community-based healthcare clinics that provides low-income community members with produce and nutrition education to improve their dietary habits and gradually build communal health and resiliency long-term.
