Grant Summary
This project will use interactive training and support to improve primary care clinicians’ capacity in the early identification, primary care management, and linkage to community programs of children with known or suspected developmental disabilities and behavioral/mental health concerns. As a result of this project, we expect that primary care clinicians will have increased knowledge, beliefs, and skills in providing high quality developmental and behavioral services to their pediatric patients. The unique features of this program rely on: 1) our previous experience with helping clinicians in this area, 2) our established relationships with communities targeted for engagement in this project, 3) our use of multifaceted intervention strategies to effect improvement, and 4) our focus on targeting Medicaid-contracted clinicians who provide care for children in families with limited income as the prevalence of developmental disabilities increases as family income decreases.
