Award / $50,000

Priority / Health for the Underserved

Location / Chicago, IL Citywide Focus

Grant Summary:

For over eight years, JPA has established strong community mental health partnerships in the high-risk community of Chicago’s North Lawndale. In FY16, there are six Chicago public elementary schools (Crown, Legacy, LEARN Romano Butler, LEARN Excel, Sumner Elementary School and KIPP Ascend Primary School) that voluntarily participate through the award winning Building Bridges to North Lawndale (BBNL) program. This program is designed to help vulnerable, traumatized children demonstrably improve their functioning in school. These partnerships enable Chicago’s economically impoverished and highly-stressed children to gain access to quality mental health services that they need to heal and put them on the right track to becoming successful students and healthy, more productive citizens.
