Approximately 60% of youth served by YOS are, or have been, in the juvenile justice system. Incarceration is costly, and confinement can compound the trauma youth experience. YOS helps break the cycle of juvenile justice involvement by offering three proven community-based alternatives to incarceration: a Day Reporting Center, an Evening Reporting Center, and the R.I.S.E. civic engagement program. The goal is to prevent recidivism, teach life skills, and prepare youth for successful adulthood.
